WORKSHOPS / SYMPOSIUM

SCI-Arc, Tokyo University, and Princeton University joined forces for a series of Workshops and a Symposium that lasted almost a week. The series of lectures and workshops featured well-known architects like Arata Isosaki, Kengo Kuma, Kazuyo Sejima, Eric Owen Moss, Hernan Diaz Alonso, and others. It was a chance for students to see modern masters express their ideas and thoughts on architecture, design, and the progression of the single-surface project. The culminating day-long lecture was held at the Yokohama Ferry Terminal, with hundreds in attendance.

Workshop 1 / Symposium (Tokyo)

SCI-Arc students embarked on a trip to Shanghai towards the end of the semester, to visit the Studio of Steven Ma / Xuberance, and to spend time designing fashionable wearable items during a design charette. The trip lasted a week and involved tours as well as worksessions. Photos of the results of the design charette are below, followed by tour photos of Shanghai.
